In recent years, there has been a significant push towards solar energy, aiming to diminish environmental impacts and enhance quality of life. The Israeli government has set a target for 30% of electricity from renewables sources by 2030. Our project involved designing an electrical network for a new town near Moshav Shtulim in southern Israel, by integrating a solar-energy farm generating approximately 5MVA. The system both supplies the town and contributes excess energy to the national grid, promoting environmental and economic sustainability. Key project activities included selecting PV system components, designing the network, and implementing protection methods. The design of the solar farm and electrical grid adheres to Israel's electricity regulations, ensuring operational compliance with the national standards.

This project designed and implemented a solar-integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system to provide continuous and reliable electricity during grid failures. The system combines photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, backup batteries, and an inverter to ensure uninterrupted power for critical loads. Under normal operation, solar energy delivers power to consumers and charges the batteries. During an outage, the system automatically switches to battery mode. The project aimed to reduce dependency on the electrical grid, lower energy costs, and minimize environmental impact. The design emphasized efficiency through smart energy management, with the possible future integration of a solar tracking mechanism to maximize energy capture throughout the day.
