This research explored the potential use of electrets, dielectric materials that exhibit an external electric field, in order to harvest free electric charges from atmospheric ionization. This innovation can offer a complementary power source for satellites during eclipses (when the Earth blocks sunlight from reaching the satellite). The primary aim was to evaluate a model linking power generation to area density in satellite eclipse conditions. By investigating the relationship between electricity production and area density, we assessed the viability of electrets as a solid-state, analog energy solution when solar panels are ineffective. This approach could extend battery life by providing additional power during periods when satellites pass through Earth's shadow, thereby enhancing mission longevity.

This project designed a comprehensive electrical system for a medical center in the southern city of Ashdod, which ensures reliable and safe power delivery in compliance with stringent medical standards. The system includes a main electrical panel and several subsidiary panels, incorporating tailored transformers, custom-sized cables, and backup solutions combining solar panels, lithium-ion batteries, generators, and UPS systems. Key design tasks encompassed calculating electrical loads for each department, selecting appropriate components, and devising backup systems for power outages. The project strictly adhered to both local and international electrical standards. Deliverables included detailed technical drawings, comprehensive calculation reports, and a proactive maintenance schedule, tailored to meet the medical center's specific needs for continuous and uninterrupted operation.
