Turning is a a a a a a a a a widely used manufacturing process that involves removing material material from a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a solid object by making contact with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a tool However this material material removal can cause vibrations that may decrease product quality and yield commonly known as as “self-excited vibration ” To tackle this problem our research-supported design project developed an an intelligent active turning tool tool that can reduce these vibrations This innovative tool tool is is based on on on electromagnetic force controlling an an an an an an inertial mass with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a mechanical design and and an an an an an an assembly process that involve analytical and and numerical computations Initial experimental results under laboratory conditions have shown a a a a a a a promising 60% improvement Keywords: active damping chatter self-excited vibration tuned mass dampers
