New and adapted technologies are always hot topics at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which sees over ten thousand delegates from 90 different countries descend annually on the French Riviera-based city.

As well as winning awards for forward thinking work and gleaning insights from sessions at the Palais, PHD used the festival as a launch
point for its latest book ‘Merge’, featuring a foreword with expert insight from futurist Ray Kurzweil. Kurzweil presented a keynote on the event’s main stage, focussing on how humans will live longer and be smarter, as well as amalgamate with machines, within the next three decades.
In addition to Kurzweil’s keynote, Susana Tsui, PHD APAC’s CEO, merged forces at Cannes Innovation with Chelsea Chen, Co-Founder of Emotech and Olly the Robot. The session “Merge | Is the future robot shaped?” featured Olly, the world’s first robot with personality.
If Kurzweil is correct, humanity will evolve and reach a new level of intelligence and expand its horizons to unprecedented heights, but how will marketers deal with this challenge? And how do you advertise to robots anyway?
