Breedplan is a performance recording system which uses an animal’s own performance, plus the performance of all known relatives in the herd - sire, dam, half sisters and brothers etc.
Breedplan uses Estimated Breeding Values (EBV’s) to rank animals for different traits. EBV is “The Estimated Value of an Animal as a Parent” expressed in kilograms.
BIRTH WEIGHT indicates genetic potential for birth weight. Positive indicates high birth weight and negative indicates lower birth weight.
EBV 200 DAY MILK is a measure of the potential of that bull to transmit milking and mothering ability to its female progeny in your herd. Weaner producer should place emphasis on this and 200 Growth.
EBV 200 DAY GROWTH is a measure of that bull’s potential to transmit pre-weaning growth to its progeny in your herd. Weaner producer should place emphasis on this and Milk EBV
EBV 400 DAY WEIGHT is a measure of that bull’s potential to transmit growth from birth to yearling to its progeny in your herd. EBV 600 DAY WEIGHT is a measure of that bull’s potential to transmit growth from birth to maturity to its progeny in your herd.
