GCSE Art, Craft and Design
A broad-based art course that allows students opportunities to produce work in a
variety of different art disciplines.
With a backbone that develops traditional drawing and painting skills, students
also work in a range of different creative areas that can include: sculptural form,
ceramics, textile progresses, photography, printmaking and graphics. As the
course progresses, students can decide which direction and creative media they
would like to utilise in their own project development.
This course has been designed to encourage creative innovation and good
communication.
We realise that the creative thinkers, those people who have the ability to come
up with something new, the problem solvers, are increasingly recognised by
industries and employers as the “go to’’ people to employ.
We help our students to learn how to look at something in a new way. Most
importantly of all, you will be encouraged to express your ideas in a supportive
and fun teaching environment.

“When it came for me to choose my GCSEs, I knew I wanted to continue
Art, but I didn’t know where I wanted to specialise. It’s a wonderful course
filled with a variety of different media. I especially love the topic we’re doing
at the moment: ‘The British Countryside’. You study artists and create your
own pieces inspired by artists. It’s a lovely break away from academics, and
I look forward to my lessons.”
