Academic Access and Achievement
(Formerly Learning Support)
The department is able to offer a weekly 1:1
tailored lesson for those students with SEN and
who would benefit from extra academic attention.
In addition to providing support in relevant subject
areas, these lessons can also provide guidance on
revision strategies, deadline management and
study skills.
In Year 10 and 11, we tailor lessons around the
students’ Supervised Prep and Study sessions within
their timetables. Support is offered by the department
through core support groups, 1-2-1 lessons and
Academic Confidence Clinic. Revision and study
sessions are offered by subjects during Year 11. Subject
support sessions are also on offer during boarding
prep.
Core Support Groups
We also offer small group support lessons in the core
subjects of English and Maths. This targeted
intervention is designed to facilitate the development
of key skills They allow students to work together in a
collaborative way.
1-2-1
The department offers 1-2-1 tailored lessons for
students with SEN or those who would benefit from
extra academic support. In addition to providing
support in relevant subject areas, these lessons may
also include study skills guidance including a focus on
developing revision strategies and time management
skills.

Confidence Clinics which takes place twice a week.
Students who are invited to these sessions are
supported in the development of their executive
functioning skills in order to manage preps effectively
and develop independence in their learning.

specific targeted intervention, but
have additional learning needs may
benefit from these sessions. Please
contact Miss Owen to arrange an
invitation.
