Overview
Media is relevant to everyone’s life: our world is saturated by TV, film, advertising, news etc, as the media arguably play an increasingly influential role in society. On this course, we learn the practical skills of media production and also investigate social and ethical issues such as the representation of gender, the myths created by advertising, and the influence of social media in political news.
Equivalent to one A Level, this programme of study combines critical analysis, creativity and digital media production. Students learn a range of creative and technical skills
including photography, scriptwriting, layout, storyboarding, videography and editing. There is a focus on industry equivalent standards, and students are encouraged to view their work from professional perspectives. The course is made up of six equal units, all of which are assessed internally as extended coursework projects.
 Modules
Unit 1: Analysis of Media Products & Audiences (film industry focus)
Unit 11: Scriptwriting (TV & film focus)
Unit 15: Print-based Advertising (charity campaigns)
Unit 17: Produce an Audio- Visual Product (short film or music video)
Unit 18: Produce Audio- Visual Advertising (commercial products)
Unit 23: Media Exhibitions & Events
Expectations

As the course is largely creative, students will be expected to develop their technical and creative skills beyond class time.
