Tell us about Music at Seaford
I love it because I meet lots of different people from the different year groups. In the clarinet section of the orchestra there is a boy in Year 7 and I’m in the Lower Sixth, yet we both help each other out.
Years 9 and 10 in many schools wouldn’t normally socialise together, but at Seaford we have friends in lots of year groups. I try to practise the clarinet for 30mins every day at home from 6.30am until 7am so that I can do prep in the evening. My brother practises the drums at the same time so it’s rather a noisy start to the day in our house!
I also enjoy playing in the sports teams at Seaford. I enjoy being part of a sports team and everyone is really supportive.
Do you do any Purple Time activities?
I’m planning to apply for Oxbridge so I attend academic clinics but I also use the time to play my clarinet.

Tell us about hockey at Seaford
I was in the first team for hockey last year and we came 3rd in a national competition, which was an amazing feeling. I love Seaford because it is a friendly school and has lots of sports too. I play hockey and both my parents are involved too. Mum helps with a hockey club in London and Dad coaches.
I play cricket and golf in my spare time at Seaford. I like to play tennis in the evenings. I also enjoy running.

What are you involved in at the school?
I’m in the hockey first team. It’s something I really worked for. I was in the second team last year so was really hoping to make the step up. I started off in the second team again and then gradually built up. I’m really proud about that. The drive within me wanted to get there. It’s nice to feel worth being there.
The second team was great and a lot of fun but I wanted to see what it would be like to play at a more serious level. I’ve learnt from others – from playing against other good schools. The first team get their heads together like little fire ants. They just go for it. It’s taught me that if I want to get somewhere I can work hard and get there. It’s tiring but it drives me to do things.
Sport definitely helps me. It’s helped me to do better academically too. Being able to get out there, get some fresh air and then get down to the academic again.
Do you do a Purple Time activity?
For Purple Time, I do Biomedical Science – it helps me understand stats better. There’s lots of activities to do. Things like gym and Zumba. There will be more opportunities in the future too.

Tell us about Performing Arts at Seaford
I was involved in a choir before I came to Seaford, but here it’s on a totally different level, on a bigger scale. It enables me to have different friendship groups, even when I was in the choir in Year 9, I was friends with people in the Upper Sixth, especially as there were people from my old school also in the choir.
I’m in the Soul Band which is another different group of students. I acted in Les Miserables, Pirates of Penzance, and the Musical Showcase.
I was so nervous for the Les Misérables audition that I couldn’t do it. I walked out but Ms Reynolds and Mr Follows know me well, so I auditioned just in front of them another time. This is what I love about Seaford, I got another chance to have a go in an environment that suited me.
Once I was in the show I loved it. Seaford was good to help me get to the audition, rather than just saying I couldn’t be in it as I didn’t do the audition. The teachers know my personality and knew that once I got started, I would love it so their encouragement and support was really helpful to me.
Tell us about sport at Seaford
I love the sport at Seaford, I played in the rugby 1st team last year. I’m in the 1st team for rugby and cricket this year. Cricket at Seaford is really good with new facilities.
