                Academic Access and Achievement
(Formerly Learning Support)
The department is able to offer a weekly 1:1 tailored lesson for those students with SEN and who would benefit from extra academic attention. In addition to providing support in relevant subject areas, these lessons can also provide guidance on revision strategies, deadline management, study skills and mindfulness.
In Year 10 and 11,
we tailor lessons around the students’ Supervised Prep and Study sessions within their timetables. We additionally encourage all students to make use of the Academic Confidence Clinic which runs bi-weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday after school.
We also offer small group support lessons in the core subjects
of English, Maths and Science. These are in place of the 1:1 lessons and allow students
to work together in collaborative way with a specialist teacher with a focus on the 3 core subjects.
Examinations Access Arrangements
Additionally, in Year 10 we will inform you if you are entitled to extra provision in examinations. This can include:
• A reader
• A scribe
• 25% Extra time
• Modified Papers
All students are encouraged to make use of the department and its resources.
