GCSE Drama
Do you enjoy acting and making plays? Do you want to learn more about how the work of professional companies and drama specialists can help you to develop your skills? Then GCSE Drama is the course for you! You will go to see live plays; you will explore various plays from the point of view of a performer, designer and director. You will create and perform your own piece of theatre as part of a group, and also perform sections taken from a well-known play. You have the chance to work in a practical subject, to develop a better understanding of performance as well as developing skills that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
Course Outline:
This course consists of 3 components as listed below:
1. DevisingTheatre(40% of the course, practical and written assessment)
• Createandperforma piece of devised theatre
• Produceaportfolioof supporting evidence
2. Performing from a Text (20% of the course, practical examination)
• Studytwoextractsfrom a published play
• Performordesign practicalperformance work for a visiting examiner
3. Interpreting Theatre (40% of the course, written examination)
• Studyandanswer questions on the play ‘AnInspectorCalls’
• Reviewofapieceoflive theatre
