Our Impact: Students
It is our hope that these students, through their work experience, realised that it doesn’t matter what background or school they came from, but rather, who they are as a person and the abilities that they bring. We
have aimed to give them the belief that they can pursue a legal career.
There is no more important an impact than the one that PRIME work experience has on our students. Since PRIME launched 10 years ago, over 7,500 students have been able to access
quality work experience at a host of law firms across the country.
“Mentoring has been a wonderful experience – I
am able to reach out to my mentor for guidance with university applications and professional development. My mentor has shared their experience of the journey into law, which has helped me envision the route to take. In addition, my mentor has given me advice on a good work-life balance which has really helped me to get into a good routine with studying, which I can then transfer to my future working life.”
Myah Ojla, PRIME student at Clifford Chance, 2019.
“The best part of my work experience was having the opportunity to work alongside experienced lawyers who valued my opinion despite me at the time being in sixth form. Looking back at my work experience, spending time with my supervisors was the best part as the little things they had done made an impact on me; whether that was ensuring I understood the assigned work, introducing me to colleagues who walked into their office but most importantly allowing me to develop my own independent thinking.”
Naassir Jama, PRIME student at HFW and Withers LLP, 2018.
“PRIME showed me that I could and would fit into a career in law.”
Ben Lloyd, PRIME Student at Clifford Chance, 2018.
“In the midst of lockdown I fully expected the scheme to be cancelled so to learn it was taking place virtually was very exciting. I loved the work experience and it convinced me to pursue a degree in law. I had three mentoring sessions with a Senior Associate which was invaluable. The personal experiences and the disadvantages he faced really resonated with me. These sessions were truly a key factor for me deciding to pursue a degree in law.”
Matthew Byrne, PRIME student at Herbert Smith Freehills, 2020.
