“I have always believed that your ability to progress in life should depend, not on your background, where you come from, or your social economic class, but rather on your ability, your drive, on your character and your qualities. I have also always believed that for the legal profession to continue to thrive into the future, it needs to recruit from the widest possible range of talent, not only those with a privileged background. Without that, it will gradually wither on the vine.
My message for law firms is to contribute. We have the ability, if we all put our shoulder to the wheel, to make a difference to the lives and the life outcomes of many otherwise disadvantaged young people. So let’s go for it!”
