Working together to help your Child
Be happy, well rested and well fed!
It is recognised that pupils make significantly greater progress when a strong partnership between home and school is encouraged, nurtured and developed.
Whist we undertake to complete additional re-enforcement activities prior to children returning home, it is important that parents involve themselves in their children’s emergent understanding. We would recommend that you:
• Communicate with your child’s Form Teacher at your earliest convenience should you wish to discuss your child’s progress
• Encourage reading and listening comprehension at home. Each Year has a recommended reading list
• Use the Reading Record Booklets to communicate with your child’s teacher
• Encourage the use of number skills in your child’s everyday life. Use their pocket money to encourage number bonds by working out total cost and the expected change from their purchases
• Play games as a family such as Scrabble, Pictionary and Bananagrams which encourage language skills or Yahtzee, Monopoly and card games to encourage the use of mental maths. Most board games help to develop communication skills
