he arrival of fall brings a renewed sense of optimism to campus. The oppressive heat of summertime in
TAtlanta is behind us, and students are back on campus to start another academic year. If you have visited
campus lately, you will have noticed many changes, and how many old favorites seem to get better with age. Ma
Tech continues to expand the campus by adding new venues and new academic buildings. This is the fnal year for
the Alexander Memorial Coliseum as we know it. The Tech Athletic Association is undertaking a major renovation
that will move the team off campus for the 2011-12 basketball season.
Excitement is at a fever pitch for our football team as they look to defend their ACC title. For the 2009-10
season, we had many great alumni functions. A crowd of more than 100 Theta Chi alumni, wives and friends
attended a massive pregame tailgate party in Tampa to watch the team defeat Clemson for the ACC crown. A
smaller, yet equally enthusiastic, alumni crowd took our tailgating prowess to the frigid Orange Bowl to cheer on
the Jackets. An exciting part of both alumni outings was the wide age range of Alpha Nu brothers in attendance.
We had brothers age 20 to 60-plus who enjoyed the fellowship and fun.
Each year, the pre-football-game crowds at the Chapter House seem to grow. Clearly the epicenter of alumni
social activity for the fall is the front lawn of the House in the hours leading up to a home football game. This is a
great time to see many familiar faces and reconnect with brothers from collegiate days.
As you read through this addition of the Alpha Nus, take note of the many alumni functions from the Alumni
Camping Trip, to the 1980 Pledge Class reunion, the Tachi Classic Golf Tournament and Homecoming. Speaking
of Homecoming, we will continue the tradition of Friday night festivities at the Fox & Hound Tavern on Collier
Rd. Homecoming Saturday brings Virginia to campus for a key ACC match up. Look for a separate mailer with
details of Homecoming weekend activities.
We hope to see you on campus and at YOUR House this fall! Go Jackets!
