ProFlo Maximum Electric Water Pumps Pumps have adjustable cam stops and ac-
cept stock brackets. Pumps add horse- power by eliminating the drive belt and fan, plus they improve cooling
strip, aluminum housings have
billet aluminum impellers,
stainless steel shafts and carbon
ceramic seals. Stainless fasteners are included.
Protorque Starters Starters have 1.9 horsepower
and a 4:1 gear reduction ratio
for exceptional cranking power.
They weigh just 10 pounds and are adjustable for best header/oil pan clearance (CVR1337 is not adjustable).

12-Volt Electric Vacuum Pumps
CVRVP555
Precision-machined, anod-
ized aluminum pumps are for
vehicles using engine combi-
nations that provide little or
no manifold vacuum. When
vacuum drops below 15" of
vacuum, the pump activates
and increases the brake
vacuum level to 20". Units are
completely self contained, just hookup the positive/ negative power supply.

When the power brakes go away, engine idle is rough, or low RPM throttle response is sluggish at best, your newly rebuilt engine could be the victim of low engine vacuum. Normal vacuum for a stock engine is between 17" Hg - 22" Hg at idle with the engine vacuum can be caused by many things, including worn piston rings, leaking intake gaskets, or leaking carburetor to intake manifold gaskets. These three conditions
are usually found in used engines with high mileage and ready for a rebuild. Us-
ing a vacuum gauge will help pinpoint the possible cause for low vacuum. When
checking vacuum readings keep in mind that above 2,000 feet elevation the read-
ing will be approximately one inch lower per each 1,000 feet rise in elevation. Here
are a few examples of abnormal vacuum readings. With the engine at steady idle
and an intermittent drop of 3"-5", sticky valves could be the culprit. At 3000 RPM's
and the pointer changes rapidly as the RPM's are increased, this is an indication of
weak valve springs. Steady 8"-14" at idle points to incorrect valve timing and steady
14"-16" at idle means incorrect ignition timing. Low vacuum in a recently rebuilt engine
can point to the installation of a camshaft with too much valve overlap/duration. If the
low vacuum condition is determined to be a result of the short duration camshaft, an electric vacuum pump is the cure. These units are simple to install and will regulate the vacuum level itself.
