My Turn
When I was young and reckless, I never considered growing old for I was so naïve about how fast the years unfold.
Almost 60 years have come and gone as though they’ve vaporized. Time made from me a purchase that I never authorized.
But, we are designed to acclimate as old-age advances nearer, adjusting views and attitudes with the reflection in the mirror.
We accept our fate and future and in it, we rejoice.
We can credit this to wisdom, or that we have no other choice.
And yet...
I would have been more present and lived a slower pace
if I had realized just how quickly there’d be wrinkles on my face.
I was there, and now I’m here and I’ll be older yet... just taking my turn
to live and learn
in whatever time I get.
It seems to me, what day we go is all left up to chance. We’re all just moving to the rhythm of life’s amazing dance.
