First Prayer
Dear God, this is my first prayer, and I’m not sure what to do. But, since you’ve always known me, I think it’s time I know you, too.
I am just a beginner,
thus, I have some hesitation. But my heart has been longing for this important conversation.
Because something has been missing. My soul has been in strife.
And I have finally realized
how much I need You in my life.
I hear others pray so beautifully, and this, being my first
may seem a little clumsy, confused and unrehearsed.
I have much to learn about You and I am ready, God, to start to feel your unconditional love inside my life...inside my heart.
My palms, I place together; my head, I humbly bow,
for I know it’s taken me too long to arrive where I am now.
Should I gently close my eyes, and place my knees upon the ground? Will you still hear my heartfelt prayer if I send it without sound?
