through a window that opened into the dark alley. I remember the cold night air filling my lungs as I ran the fastest I’d ever run toward safety.
That unfortunate incident from my youth left scars, though not visible, more prevalent than those that may have resulted had I survived a bullet thatday. Proving that although most of our noticeable scars are linked to memories, memories can, in turn, leave permanent scars.
The invisible wounds that occur below the surface are often deeper and slower to heal. It is these invisible scars we bear that do not have the advantage of being protected, medicated, and nursed back to health. There are no emotional bandages with salve we can apply, no stitches to repair invisible gashes. Time may heal all wounds, but the scars may still remain forever.
