GOODBYE
Dear son,
When it came, it did not affect me much and not for long because
I was never driven by money. From the gullies of Chitrakoot into the
global world of finance, though I’ve traversed some way, my views about
money remain the same. But that’s the thing about money. Whether you
want it or not, it will define your days. But our task as human beings is
to not let it.
It might be nice to tell the story of my life. How I wish I could relive
the whole thing. But short of that, I’d like to share my experiences, the
rollercoaster rides through the crests and troughs of my life, so that
some young man or woman somewhere going through life’s journey
might feel comforted and inspired. Some entrepreneur maybe. To keep
going. To press on. To never stop.
It would be soothing to my soul to help youngsters who I feel are lonely
and isolated and perhaps even misguided. It would be nice to engage
with them so that they can engage with real people. Life’s success is all
about how you engage with people. It would be nice to tell them to
avoid the typical discouragements of life – ‘you’re too thin’ or ‘you’re
too dull’ or ‘you’re such a waste’, to think long and hard about how they
want to spend their time. It would be delightful to tell them to not settle
for a job or a profession or even an entrepreneurial journey – but to
seek their calling. Even if they don’t know – to seek it. If they do, the
disappointments will be easier to bear and the highs will be like high-
speed fuel in the tank.
It would be nice to tell them that entrepreneurs are easily an outnumbered
lot. They have to climb a hill – and the hill has never been less steep. Yet,
the summit views are magnificent and available to only those who are
willing to make the arduous climb to the top.
Also, in your entrepreneurial journey, sometimes you have to give up.
When to give up and try something else is nothing short of genius.
