LOOKING AHEAD
We are continuing to see the need for food support increase. In 2023, we distributed 400,000 more lbs of food at our main West Dallas campus than in 2022. We also doubled our original goal to serve 500 South Dallas Community Market households, reaching 1,193 families. We are committed to lling the resource gap for more neighbors by going beyond just lling their pantries with fresh and healthy food. Our goal is to provide customized outreach and services to ful ll our neighbors' unique needs, ensuring, empowering, and enriching their households with the tools to thrive. In 2024, we would like to support 7,800 households via our successful community service model, including:
Grocery Services: We will provide client-choice programming at the BBHH Grocery Store at our Main West Dallas Campus, The South Dallas Community Market, and the Inspired Vision Academy Secondary School. We are taking our grocery store model to the Dallas ISD Resource Center South at JJ Rhoads and the Dallas ISD Resource Center West at the West Dallas STEM School. At the request of school leadership, who recognize the need for food support in their school communities, we will build out client-choice grocery stores inside the schools' resource centers and provide families with a consistent and nutritious grocery supply. At the request of school leadership, who recognize the need for food support in their school communities, we are taking our grocery store model to The Lincoln Resource Center at JJ Rhoads and Inspired Vision Academy. We will build out client-choice grocery stores inside the schools' resource centers and provide families with a consistent and nutritious grocery supply. Each family receives an average of 100- 150 lbs of groceries a month, saving them an average of $300 per month. All families are screened for and can access additional wrap-around support, including public services (CHIP/SNAP), BBHH health resources, Summer Feeding Support, and enrichment programming.
Healthcare, Outreach, and Resources: The BBHH Community Clinic provides bilingual outreach, health resources, access to healthcare, and grocery support for all our neighbors. In 2024, we are building opportunities that will further break down barriers to health. We host a monthly pop-up vision clinic and are adding a regular mammogram clinic that will rotate between our West Dallas Campus and The South Dallas Community Market in partnership with BridgeBuilders. We are expanding our Produce Prescription Program, launched in 2023 in partnership with Texas A&M University, to target individuals with diabetes and hypertension from low-income, food-insecure communities. BBHH was chosen as the lead organization and was challenged to own the program once piloted. The program has been successful; in the rst year, our Clinic and Social Services teams engaged 30 individuals via regular outreach and customized nutrition support. In 2024, we will continue to build this program to reach more in our community with customized support.
Enrichment Programming: Our program team partners with community experts, businesses, and service organizations to bring bilingual and culturally competent enrichment programming to our community. In 2024, neighbors can participate in youth programming, adult ESL, job training, tness and nance classes, and programming for seniors. We also host regular community events (Back to School Bash, Children's Christmas Celebration, and Neighbor Day) that are open to all neighbors and provide essential resources, including grocery support.
