FINAL DESTINATION
The navigation system in Neil's rental car said, "You have arrived at your destination." The problem was that there was nothing there, just fields of rolling hills and scattered stands of trees under an empty sky.
Neil pulled the car onto a wide gravelly spot on the shoulder of the road. There was no sign of the house. In fact, he had not seen a house or any other structure for miles. He checked the address on the sheet of paper Aunt Martha had given him. Carefully, he entered the information into the GPS again, hoping he had made a mistake on his first try. He pressed enter and the synthesized voice said, "You have arrived at your destination."
"Crap." Neil slapped the steering wheel. He had flown a thousand miles and driven a hundred and fifty more to get to a place that did not exist. Had they changed the addresses out here? More likely Aunt Martha had gotten so forgetful in her old age she didn’t remember where the house she had grown up in was? It was possible it had been blown away in a tornado or destroyed in a fire, but he thought there should still be some
