I was also introduced to the use of the analog photography during my academic career. The use of hands on photography creates a different world of appreciation. I started using a OM- 10 Olympus camera that uses 35 mm film. The use of analog is knowing how to use lighting within day light and mixed light. Also knowing how to play with apertures and ISO to create a well balance photo.
The creation of each photo uses chemicals and light to expose the photo. It is more of hands on use of photography.
