Launched in 2017, Casson is a Canadian home and commercial hardware dealer that pays strict attention to detail in its modernist designs. Co-founded by Megan Cassidy and Jane Son, the duo set out to curate a range of products that can aid both a skilled tradesperson and the everyday homeowner in elevating any architectural project. Casson’s extensive collection of essential housewares and decorative objects
are highly considered, and are inspired
by global design discoveries, abridging both aesthetics and functionality.

Amplifying Excellence
Local Canadian shoe designer, George Sully, launches the first-ever interactive Canadian Black Designer Index. Black Designers of Canada strives to highlight and celebrate Black designers, eliminating the excuse of exclusion and providing a voice for designers in the Black community who have faced ignorance or systemic prejudices in the fashion industry. Sully recognizes the prolonged wait “the last thing I thought
is that I’d be making history by doing something that’s such a no brainer. An index of Canadian Black Designers should have never been such a far-fetched idea in the first place”. The index promises to amplify Black designers in all areas and calls on the public to submit their favourite Black designers for them to be featured.
