WINTER COLLEGE COMMITS
new pic
Originally a soccer player, Emma decided to give field hockey a try. Although she’s been playing for seven years, she joined the Latin community as a sophomore and made an immedi- ate impact. Emma is a versatile player who can fill any role on the field using her knowledge of the game to propel the Hawks forward. Ranking high on the team in assists and scoring, Emma earned second team All-Conference this year, while making great contribu- tions with her leadership and guidance of younger players. Emma will follow in her parents’ footsteps and attend William Smith College.
Soccer was the first sport that Tyler played. She grew to love the game and began playing competitively when she was seven years old. Tyler says the soccer field is a stress-free envi- ronment for her that has taught her about teamwork, leadership, and con- fidence – all things that have impacted her in everyday life. It is easy to see her love for the sport, but she brings so much more to the team. She’s athletic, intelligent, focused, committed, has
a team-first attitude, and leads by example – not to mention that she is incredibly skilled at her position. Tyler is an excellent defender that we count on to organize and direct our backs. Tyler will attend Centre College.
Julian started playing soccer at four years old and has been playing ever since. His coach notes that Julian has one of the highest soccer IQs of any high school player he has encoun- tered, and serves as a coach on the field during games. His decision-mak- ing is outstanding as he leads the team defensively and offensively from his central position. This year, Julian’s free kick skills took the Hawks to an- other level, both with direct shots and services. Julian is a quiet, but effective leader, who constantly encourages younger players while also challeng- ing them to work hard. Julian will con- tinue to play at Macalester College.

Brock developed a love for hockey initially but realized that Charlotte Latin didn’t have a hockey team and he knew he wanted to play for the Hawks one day. He gave lacrosse a try since the sports have some similar- ities. Brock worked hard to develop his skills both in the Latin lacrosse program and through Team Carolina and has become a regular in Latin’s Strength Center. He is poised to have his best season ever. He is focused, hard-working, and has shown the ability to be a great leader. Brock will continue his education and lacrosse career at Sewanee.
As a member of the Girl Scouts in fifth grade, Elizabeth Rose caught the eye of a troop member’s parent, who was a lacrosse coach. She was already tall for her age, so he thought she’d be a good fit for lacrosse. EB didn’t love it right away but once she got it down, she started playing on a travel team and her passion was ignited. EB had more skill than most teammates even in middle school, but she didn’t take over the game – choosing instead to pass and get her whole team involved. EB worked hard to develop her skills and has become a strong draw-taker, circle player, assister, and scorer. She will continue to learn and play at Amherst College.
Caroline was drawn to lacrosse after watching family friends play the
sport. She decided to give it a try and she’s been a laxer ever since. She has worked incredibly hard to fulfill a per- sonal goal to play lacrosse in college. C-Wall will become the quarterback
of Latin’s offense this year. As a crease player, she is able to feed the ball to open players from behind the goal
and drive past defenders and take the shot. Her coach is looking forward to watching her become one of Latin’s top scorers in her senior season and knows she will continue to develop in college. Caroline is excited to play Division I lacrosse at Radford University.
