Appendix 6 – Is your Clinic Room Air Clean?
With the advent of Covid-19 and its ability to spread in airborne aerosols, there is now a requirement to ensure your clinic’s air is safe. Mike wrote an article on this issue recently – read our blog post.
Figure 65: Three good methods to clean the air in any room are – open windows, use filtration units and use a UV light source
Our recommendations are:
keep a constant air flow in all rooms, expelling that air to the outside;
use ultraviolet devices to reduce the amount of airborne virus particles;
use plume/smoke evacuators when using high-energy devices like lasers or IPLs on skin treatments;
use good air filtration devices, preferably with HEPA or ULPA filters;
leave around 30 minutes between sessions to allow room air to be removed;
wear masks/respirators whenever possible.
By applying these measures, the risk of contracting this virus is reduced significantly.
