The whole point of laser/IPL treatments:
Light energy enters the skin
Something absorbs that light energy
It is converted into heat energy
This raises the local temperature
If applied for a sufficient time, this results in a particular change in the target
● We use light to transfer energy to the targets in the skin to generate heat energy and a rise in the local temperature.
When light enters the skin it can undergo a number of ‘events’ including:
Fresnel back reflections at the surface Forward-scattering Back-scattering Absorption Transmission
