E42 - Unscrupulous laser suppliers!! Beware...
You got to be kidding me???
One of my LPA client's recently had a laser break down during treatment. He stopped treatment immediately and checked the system. It came back with an error code - which was meaningless!
So he called me out to have a look at it. The main unit appears to be running correctly so I checked the laser head. It also appeared to be fine. The laser would run for a few shots then stop.
I ran the diagnostic program and it came back with the same error code as before. I asked him to call the supplier and check what that code meant.
He subsequently called me to say that the company had sent an engineer to check his system. His report was that something had "melted" and that the whole unit would have to be replaced with a new one. The cost - £35,000!!! Note that this is one of the biggest medical laser suppliers out there - a very well known name in the industry.
This is the sort of thing that gives this industry a bad name. If your car gets a flat tyre, you don't go out and buy a new car!! Likewise, if your laser has a component that 'melts', you don't need to buy a whole system!
I'm not naming any names.... for now. Watch out for those unscrupulous suppliers!!!
