This report describes the world's first IPL system, developed by Morgan Gustafsson in the early 1990s. Back then we didn't call it IPL - that name came later.
Morgan approached me at an ASLMS conference after I gave a talk on our pulsed dye laser work in Canniesburn Hospital, Glasgow. He showed some pieces of equipment, which turned out to be an optical chamber for his newly developed light energy system.
I liked what I saw and convinced my work colleagues to work with him to develop it into a commercial system. It eventually became the 'Plasmalite' - the world's first commercial IPL system!
The rest is, as they say, history....
