We published some of the results of our clinical trials in our paper in 1990 – “Q-switched ruby laser treatment of tattoos – a 9-year experience.” Click here to read this paper.
A few years later we published another paper on the use of the QS ruby laser in the treatment of benign pigmented lesions – “Q-switched ruby laser treatment of benign pigmented lesions in Chinese skin.” Click here for that paper.
In 1988 Mike and a colleague setup Dermalase Limited to sell this technique and technology across the world. They set up the world’s first tattoo removal clinic using this type of technology in Glasgow (watch a news video here).
Their first product was the DLR1 (DermaLase Ruby) Q-switched ruby laser (see figure 17):
