Conclusion
Chapter 3 – Fundamentals of Laser/IPL Hair Removal 2nd Edition
This was a very interesting and revealing study.
Yet the results are quite clear – most clinics are doing too many treatments, with a relatively low efficiency. Complete removal of hair follicles in a few sessions is possible, when the correct parameters are applied at the correct times. But this is quite tricky!
Plus we have to contend with impatient clients – that is also tricky to contend with. In reality, we think we need to ‘re-educate’ the public and tell them that leaving longer time between sessions is for their benefit, not ours. Of course, that has a financial impact on any business, but adopting a more honest approach will always boost a business’s reputation...
NOTE – we are reviewing this model as we have recently learned that it should also consider the ‘catagen-like’ phase which can be induced in anagen follicles which have not been sufficiently denatured. This alters the timings of the growth stages of follicles, and hence, should be properly considered...
How much hair is lost following treatments?
Assume ‘best case’ scenario where the maximum number of anagen hair follicles are treated each time. (Here ‘EKR’ is the ‘Effective Killing Rate’).
