Honors and Responsibilities
After a kindly suggestion and invitation from Margarita Cardona of the Halton Newcomer Strategy, I accepted being entered for the year recognition of immigrants in the Halton Region in the ‘2018 Newcomer Recognition Event’. “What you do inspires others, and people should know that”, that was Margarita’s phrase that motivated me to participate.
I am not always convinced that recognition is always given to those that deserve it, however I thought this might be a chance to continue to motivate me in my leadership positions. And I hope in some ways it serves a positive example for others.
I ended up being chosen as the Honoree in the Community Category, in which I competed against more than 50 people from the Halton Region. The amount of people that were in this category helped me realize that there are many of us working to help our communities and that we are truly all winners. I will use this editorial to also recognize and congratulate the hard work of Ashwini Selvak who was the Honoree in the Youth Category, and Raghad Alkhatib in the Business Category.
The BEST Group is one of the initiatives that pushed me to apply for this award. It is definitely one of my projects that I lead with much stubbornness and dedication, including the BEST Magazine, our informative magazine which highlights any businesses that want to make us experts in their field of experience. BEST is a group of entrepreneurs that are focused on training us and on excelling their business through helping our clients. we work hard collaboratively to inform and educate through these many periodic articles published in this magazine.
Additionally, I lead other initiatives such as, The Foundation Drawing Alegria (Surgical Journeys addressed to children in need with cleft lip and palate malformations) and my focus on professional development through making professional connections and networking. This award and recognition serve as a reminder to keep doing things for others and that our work is focused in always improving our communities and families.
I hope that recognition does not go straight to our heads and instead only motivates us to work harder, that it may fuel new ideas, projects and connect opportunities with talent, and open new paths for us here in beautiful Canada.

Los reconocimientos y las obligaciones
Por invitación de Margarita Cardona, de ‘Halton Newcomer Strategy’, acepte ser postulado al reconocimiento anual que hace la Región de Halton a inmigrantes en su programa ‘2018 Newcomer Recognition Event’. “Lo que haces es inspiración para otros, vale la pena que la gente lo conozca”, fue la frase de Margarita que me motivo a participar.
No muy convencido que los reconocimientos no siempre los reciben quienes los merecen, entendí que esto podría ser un buen impulso a las iniciativas que lidero. Y de alguna manera espero sea un buen ejemplo para otros.
Sin buscarlo terminé siendo escogido como el ‘Honorable Nominee’ en la categoría de Comunidad donde concursé entre más de 50 personas dentro de esa categoría en toda la Región de Halton. Ese volumen de nominados me dejo claro que somos muchos haciendo cosas por los demás y por ello los verdaderos ganadores somos todos.
Aprovecho este editorial de la revista para felicitar y reconocer también el trabajo de Ashwini Selvak en quien fue reconocida en la categoría de jóvenes “Youth” y a Raghad Alkhatib en la categoría de empresa “Business”.
BEST Group está entre las iniciativas que impulsaron este reconocimiento. Definitivamente es uno de los proyectos que con terquedad inquebrantable lidero incluyendo a BEST Magazine, nuestra revista informativa y de negocios que busca posicionarnos como expertos en nuestros campos de experiencia. BEST es un grupo de emprendedores enfocados en entrenarnos y buscar excelencia entre nosotros, en asesorar adecuadamente a nuestros clientes, y en informar y educar con los artículos periódicamente publicados en esta revista de negocios que producimos con el esfuerzo de todos.
En conjunto con las otras iniciativas que lidero, La Fundación Drawing Alegria (Jornadas quirúrgicas dirigidas a población marginadas con malformaciones en cara) y el trabajo de desarrollo profesional basado en conexión profesional; este reconocimiento compromete a seguir haciendo cosas por los demás y a que todos trabajemos por tener cada vez mejor a nuestras comunidades y familias.
Que los reconocimientos no se nos suban a la cabeza y solo alimenten el ego; sino que sean el combustible para seguir impulsando ideas, proyectos y conectando oportunidades con talento, abriendo camino en el bello Canada.
