RUN3 2016
The Joliet Park District hosts 3 running events each year and offers several benefits to those who participate in the Run3 series. Run3 champions and age group champions are awarded based on combined time from all three races. Run3 participants are eligible to win valuable raffle prizes and participants receive custom Run3 apparel. Only run3 sponsor logos will be included on the Run3 apparel which has become very popular with area runners.
ROCKDALE RAMBLIN RUN 10K – APRIL 16, 2016
The Joliet Park District brought back this popular event from the 70’s and 80’s known as the “Toughest 10k in the Midwest”. This usatf/cara Certified course runs through the streets of Rockdale and Joliet. Runners receive a custom hooded sweatshirt. In 2015, over 700 runners challenged this course. The potential for growth in the race is evident.
16TH ANNUAL SUNDOWNER 5K – JULY 21, 2016
Since its beginning in 2000, the annual Sundowner 5k has become a “must run” event for area runners. The new course is usatf/cara Certified and runs through beautiful Pilcher Park and offers a light rolling terrain. The highlight of the evening for many families is the outdoor post race party in the park pavilion. A one mile fun run is offered for those 12 and under
as well as a 200 yard dash for younger children.

All of the running events are advertised through the jpdrun3 website, Facebook and the 5,000 member Presence Inwood Athletic Club. The Joliet Park District hosts quality, chip-timed running events with custom apparel, custom finisher’s medals and great post race parties.
