Adventures of Aimi
“Very good,” said DJ. “I understand a researcher named Professor Tetsuro Matsuzawa has been studying Ayumu’s mother for 30 years.”
“I’m glad you told us about Ayumu, DJ,” said Grami. “We saw an interesting YouTube clip. Ayumu can remember the location and order of a set of numbers in less time than it takes the
average human being to blink.”
“Tad isn’t the only hungry person,” said Connor. “I’m rather famished myself.”
“Famished. That means very, very hungry,” said Grami, laughing. Grami opened the basket and gave sandwiches and bananas to everyone.
“I think I’m famished, too,” said Toni.
“Okay, does everyone have food?” asked DJ. “Are we ready to watch the movie about the chimpanzee that learned American Sign Language?”
“Yes,” cried the children together.
Aimi smiled up at Grami who was sitting in the cozy rocking chair. Grami smiled down at Aimi. “Kiki is here, too,” whispered Aimi. “You can’t see him but he’s here. He was out in the car but he came in when Tad and Connor brought in the lunch basket.” Grami smiled and nodded.
“Wowie, zowie!” said Connor. “That’s fast.”
“Can we watch the movie now?” asked Toni. “Are you ready, DJ?” asked Grami. DJ nodded. “I’m ready to watch—and eat,” said Tad.
