FREE SPORTS CAMPS FOR KIDS
We have partnered in sponsoring football camps, as well as volleyball, basketball, and soccer camps, to help thousands of deserving children expend their energy in useful, safe, fun ways, while learning leadership and teamwork skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. We also have spoken to area students about staying in school and staying out of the criminal justice system, provided a summer intern program for area law, college, and high school students, and we have annually participated in National Night Out activities.
OTHER IMPLEMENTATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS FROM THE DA’S OFFICE
We have centralized the prosecution of all new Child Support cases to Juvenile Court where the fees earned help fund the substance abuse, mental health, job search, and other programs for parents offered by Juvenile Court. This provides a tax savings to the taxpayers.
Since Christmas 2016, our office has partnered with El Dorado Casino and Academy Sports to sponsor an annual bicycle give-away to ensure that underprivileged children get a meaningful Christmas present each year.
In a similar vein, our truancy program, with the generosity of Mark Porter, owner of Porter’s Cleaners, provides free school uniforms for area students, relieving another stress source for families in school attendance.
