Build Stronger: A Child Care Policy Roadmap
FEATURED PUBLIC POLICY SESSIONS
The last seven months have brought much attention to the integral role early care and education plays in supporting
working families and the economy. However, the industry and
its workforce were struggling before the coronavirus hit and we are finding that the resources and policies targeted to address the virus may not be enough to save it from collapse. During today’s public policy sessions we will hear from OCDEL, federal experts and state early education providers on how we take the challenges and vulnerabilities of the sector that have become so apparent as a result of the pandemic, learn, and move forward.
10:30 AM to 12:00 PM 1.04 | OCDEL Town Hall
Moderator: Karen Grimm-Thomas, Director of External Relations; Panelists: Marnie Aylesworth, Director, PA Key; Christine Baldini, Bureau of Finance, Operations and Planning; Colin Day, Communications Director; Deb Daulton, Director, Early Intervention Technical Assistance; Tracy Duarte, Director, Head Start State Collaboration Office; Brent Gordon, Chief
of Staff; Lisa Parker, Director, Bureau of Early Intervention Services and Family Supports; Christine Reber, Director, Bureau of Early Learning Resource Center Operations; Kesley Shaw, Director, Bureau of Policy and Professional Development
STATE & FEDERAL POLICY PANELS
A recent article on Fatherly.com asked a group of national experts “How to Save Child Care” and “How can we fix it?” We are asking our federal and state panelists for their vision. How do we take the challenges and vulnerabilities of the sector that have become so apparent as a result of the pandemic, learn and move forward? We are asking ... It’s 2025 ... where will child care be ... what will it look like ... what will we need to get there?
