I’m so happy to be involved in this exciting new travel magazine and I’m pleased that you’re here, too! I’ll be chatting with you in each issue, as I do with my Bed & Breakfast guests, about things to do, places to see, recipes, “how-to’s” and the spirit of hospitality.
I discovered my love for B&Bs 39 years ago, honeymooning in Canada. We balanced the expense of staying in a castle with lower-priced B&Bs, and I loved them all! Innkeeping is my passion and
my lifestyle.
I established Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast 13 years ago, in Jacksonville, Illinois, as a startup. I can describe every decision – budget, operational plan, furniture, menus, hosting events, our gardens, getting to know our community, and building our staff. Our inn is established on faith and hospitality, as is my life.
Hospitality is our hallmark at Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast. It’s our
mission, our vision, and our purpose! I love to travel, and, whenever
possible, I stay in B&Bs. Every new experience– new accommodations, new restaurants, new places to shop and new things to do – brings me great joy! I love providing those things for visitors in Jacksonville. Sometimes I live like a local, and sometimes I experience life as a tourist, just so I can make great recommendations and ensure return visits.
I enjoy trying new recipes, planning menus, and hosting events. I’ll be happy to share some of my favorite tips with you. I believe that everyone could use a good serving of hospitality and I hope that this column will encourage you to dish it up whenever
you can!
