The clock struck ten and the crowds at Dollywood were already insane. Couples and families were lined up for security checks, ticket purchases, and park entry. The excitement was palpable.
We had been to amusement parks, but we had never been to Dolly Parton’s amusement park, so we knew we were in for a treat. Once we made it through the crowds and got into the
park, we made a beeline for the Chasing Rainbows Museum. It tells Dolly’s story from beginning to present, and it’s filled with her person- al belongings. We could’ve spent hours looking at every photograph and examining every costume on display. It was incredible.
There were rhinestones and glitter and a floor-to-ceiling
case filled with trophies and awards. Pretty soon they’ll need to build a bigger display case for all of Dolly’s accolades.
In the museum and throughout the entire park you really get a sense for the kind of person Dolly Parton is. You can feel her passion for music, her generosity towards others, and her kind heart. Everywhere you turn there’s a smiling face, staff and guests.
Dollywood has some incredible rides like their rafting adventure, exciting roller coast- ers, kid-friendly experiences, and a train that goes around the entire park. The lines were out of sight! We’re talking 60 minutes at the minimum. So we spent a lot of our time walking
40 around and taking in all of the sights.
