heart continues to yearn for God. What, then, is the use of bowing to Satan for worldly attainments if one’s heart is unful lled? Why shouldn’t one bow to God and attain in nite Bliss?
Shat Sampat—The Six-fold Treasure of Virtues
The Vedantic texts describe a six-fold treasure known as Shat Sampat. The foremost quality to attain is serenity of the mind—shama. Shama cannot be developed if you believe that certain happenings are going to give you perpetual satisfaction. If one depends upon the world for happiness, the mind will always be agitated. Real happiness does not depend upon external happenings. Instead it depends upon maintaining the Kingdom of Heaven as one’s main focus while enjoying a calm and relaxed mind. Instead of allowing your mind to become scattered or agitated, live life with great precision, dynamism, enthusiasm and persistence. There lies the secret of all religions. The ocean in its depth is calm, although on the surface there is a constant activity of countless waves. Real happiness abides deep within your heart.
To maintain serenity, observe your mind in the same way that a person who is interested in worldly wealth focuses on every penny day by day so that his business does not suffer a loss. By  ghting and quarreling over trivial matters, people become great losers in spiritual wealth and waste their mental energy.
