The Resurrection of Lord Jesus
Man’s triumph over death, though presented in various ways, is the most important theme of all the world’s religions. The resurrection of Christ celebrated on Easter Sunday is the commemoration of Christ’s triumph over death and is, therefore, an event of supreme importance for all mankind.
In the light of Vedanta philosophy, the resurrection of Christ is symbolic of the attainment of Liberation. As an aspirant progresses on the spiritual path, an inner transformation occurs, described symbolically in the Gospel of St. Matthew:
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. his countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.
