The Raskob Foundation Donates to the
Center for Assault Treatment Services
The Raskob Foundation for Catholic Activities, Inc. awarded a $20,000 grant to the Center for Assault Treatment Services (C·A·T·S) to fund forensic interviews and physical abuse medical exams.
As the only provider of forensic interviews and medical examinations in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys, C·A·T·S serves nearly 1,000 people each year who are victims of physical abuse, sexual assault, abuse, domestic violence, and
human trafficking.
Support for Individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Alzheimer’s disease and
related dementias (ADRD)
can be devastating for
those afflicted and their
families. To ease the
burden, the Administration on Community Living provided the Northridge Hospital Foundation a $120,000, three-year grant to create an ADRD Program to improve the quality
of respite, home-based services, and case management for ADRD. A collaborative effort, the Center for Healthier Communities, ONEgeneration, National Alliance for Mental Illness, Tarzana Treatment Centers, and San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health, Inc., provide training to families, para-professionals, and caregivers to give them greater understanding of ADRD to enhance the quality
of life for those affected. In addition, Creating Dementia Capable Health Systems will promote understanding of ADRD symptoms, reduce isolation and caregiver stress, and improve access to ADRD services.
Northridge Hospital Foundation is Awarded a Nearly $1.4 Million Grant for 2020
In 2020, First 5 LA renewed our contract for the Welcome Baby Program with a $1,394,984 million grant. Welcome Baby is a free service for all women who give birth at Northridge Hospital regardless of income level or risk factors. Every mother receives a postpartum hospital visit, including a maternal/newborn screening, a personal parent coach, breastfeeding support, and home visits until the baby is nine months old.
In FY20, the program provided 351 hospital visits and 1,436 home visits to new moms. The goal is to maximize the health, safety and security of the baby, while strengthening the parent-child relationship.
LA County Measure B Funding of $2 Million for Pediatric Trauma Center
Traumatic injuries are the leading cause of death and disability
in children, making immediate, life-saving medical care crucial. Unfortunately, the cost to maintain staffing and medical equipment for Northridge Hospital’s Pediatric Trauma Center has outpaced the reimbursement level provided by the government sector. However, LA County voters approved Measure B and in FY20, LA County
provided $2 million to ensure our community has access to this vital service.
“This program was so helpful during a very emotional, complex, and stressful time with a new baby. The Welcome Baby RN and Parent Coach were a vital part of helping me through difficult stretches of postpartum. It was a true blessing.”

As the only Pediatric Trauma Center in the San Fernando Valley, the Center provides immediate care to infants, children, and adolescents with potentially life-threatening traumatic injuries 24/7. The Center is equipped with a helipad and added assurance provided by physicians with expertise in 20 subspecialties. Without the Pediatric Trauma Center, young patients would need to travel farther away for specialized care.
