About Kyrenia /Girne
Kyrenia (Girne) is the centre of tourism in Northern Cyprus and is located along the sea on the north coastline. The city has a character of a typical Mediterranean town with a historical castles, a charming harbour, small restaurants and multiple shopping streets where you can easily walk around. If you want a touch of both history and beauty, you should start by visiting the harbor which is the heartbeat of Kyrenia and you can easily enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee for very little money.
You will find the Kyrenia Castle at the entrance of the harbour and it has a fantastic position next to the port. The castle has a museum which is open to the public and it is well worth a visit. If you go all the way up to the top you will find an incredible view of the old harbor and you can make a great shot overlooking all the restaurants, small shops and colorful boats in all different sizes and styles.
Kyrenia does not only offer the iconic and historical harbor and the stunning castles, today you will find a city growing very fast with a mix of modern high rise buildings for residents and commercial property for shopping, banking and other businesses. Kyrenia also have multiple big luxurious casino hotels and small boutique hotels which all attracts lots of tourists for both holiday, business and gambling.
Bellapais village is a unique and iconic place that is located in the Kyrenia mountain range with an incredible breathtaking view of whole Kyrenia. While driving up to the village you will cross tiny streets and ancient buildings around every corner which gives you an experience of itself.
In the Bellapais Village you will find one of the most attractive historical buildings in Northern Cyprus, the wonderful Bellapais abbey. Surrounded by excellent selection of restaurants and taverns you will not be disappointed after visiting this place.
The abbey is also in use for classical music concerts and exhibitions that give you an incredible experience and it consistently brings lots of locals and tourists every week all year around.
