The Troubling Shanghai Tower
History of the project can be date back to 1993. A set of three eye-catching skyscrapers were planned to fit the rising demand for office space and enhance the city's status to the international level. The Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Centre were completed consecutively in 1999 and about a decade later. But Shanghai Tower was always intended by the state to be the pearl in the crown. The Tower had its initial investment by a group of state-owned developers and the Shanghai’s municipal government and was completed in 2016. The country's advanced engineering brought the tower's unique twisting structure in front of the world, while offering over 1 million sq.m of real estate, making the skyscraper one of the densest places on Earth.
