2004 Awards and Statistics by Nikki Marenbach Hengy, Juniors Editor
Congratulations to all of the Juniors who qualified for the 2004 Awards Program! At the time of this writing this report, I’m getting ready for the USASA Nationals and trying to figure out how to get all of your wonderful (and big!) Award prizes in my van! The USASA Junior Committee obtained the following Award Prizes:
Top Ten—Grooming apron in green with the USASA logo and Top Ten Junior verbiage embroidered on the front. There were 42 prizes awarded.
Top Division—Show director’s chair with attached supply bag in green with the USASA logo and names embroidered on the back. Three-foot rosettes in traditional green and pink, indicating the award won, and the Junior’s name. There were four prizes awarded. Top Junior—Sett-R-Rite grooming table with adjustable legs in green. Three-in-one jacket with the USASA logo embroidered, as well as the Junior’s name. Four-foot rosette in traditional green and pink, indicating the award won, and the Junior’s name. There was one prize awarded.
This year we had a special honor: Our Top Junior of the Year was also the #1 Herding Junior—therefore we felt we should honor that accomplishment with the additional prize of the embroidered jacket.
Unfortunately, Sett-R-Rite Tables has gone out of busi- ness, and we were not able to get the table top graphics as we did for 2003. Unless Sett-R-Rite Tables is pur- chased by another company, we will look for a different top prize going forward.
Award Sponsorships
Again, thank you to all of our sponsors, for without your generosity, none of the awards program would exist.
The Award Sponsorship funds are directly and 100% used to acquire prizes to recognize the achievements of our junior handlers. It’s never too early to be a sponsor, and we are accepting donations at this time for 2005
year end awards. If you are interested in sponsoring, please visit the USASA website or contact me directly.
Going Forward!
Remember, our Award Program is changing for the better, offering you a better tabulation of points and a larger variety of awards! Please refer to the USASA Junior Companion on the USASA website, the 2005 edition, for all of the Rules & Regulations, or you may also con- tact me.
Optimum Club
I am so excited about this! This is an honorary club for our best and brightest! Awards will be given to juniors who receive a minimum of 100 points during the year and who also provide a report card that shows grades of at least a B/3.000 average or higher for that year end.
The United States Australian Shepherd Foundation is currently working on developing a college scholar- ship program for members of the Optimum Club. More details will be announced in the near future.
As always, if you have any questions or would like to help out in any way, just contact me! Good luck, juniors, at the summer shows—and always have a great time!
