pAYMENT: check or money order (in US funds payable to USASA) and credit cards through PayPal (Visa, MC, Discovery).At www.paypal. com, send your payment to usasa@australianshepherds.org. If photo- graphs and/or a complimentary magazine are being returned to more than one address per ad, include an additional $5 shipping/handling fee. Make all checks or money orders payable to USASA and clearly label what the check is for on the front side. If a check is returned unpaid by the bank, an additional charge of $25 will be due to cover the expense of processing. All NSF checks must be paid within 48 hours by cashiers check or money order. After 2 NSF checks, all future payments will be required by cashier check or money order. Ads will not be laid out until payment is received.
The advertising rates INCLUDE the cost of laying out your ad. Simply send your photograph, the ad copy and your check! Hand written ads are accepted and welcomed, just make sure we can read them.
If you would like to do your own ad layout, the follow- ing applies: Because the magazine is produced electronically to be press-ready,“camera-ready” ads are not accepted! If you are unclear as to what this means, please do not hesitate to call Kathy Glaes for assistance with your ad. The Journal is printed in 81/2” x 11” format with 1/2” margins on all four sides. Bleed is .125 inch per side.
When sending electronically self-produced ads the fol- lowing applies:
• Formats accepted (in either Windows or Mac) are Photoshop TIFF or JPEG at 300 ppi, Adobe InDesign CS–CS3, or press resolution Acrobat PDF. Microsoft Word, publisher or powerpoint formatted ads are NOT acceptable as finished prod- uct.
• Include a hard copy (printout) of the ad as well as the electronic copy (CD or DVD).You must include all linked or embedded photos and Macintosh PostScript Type 1 fonts with InDesign files. Windows Type 1 and Mac/Windows TrueType and Open Type fonts can now be used. If you do not send the font files, the fonts you used will be
substituted with the closest equivalent.
For all ads:
• Send an additional marked-up copy of the ad that indicates the names of all fonts, font sizes and leading used.
• Include the original photograph (if we are doing the layout) indicat- ing cropping positions. Do NOT cut or write on the original photo. Please mark and label all photos clearly on the back with return address information and the dog’s name(s). No black & white or color photocopies, or glossy ink jet or laser prints of digital photographs will be accepted.
• High resolution digital photographs (uncompressed TIFF or JPEG) will be accepted on CD or DVD or by email. photos from websites or at web resolution (72-96 ppi) will NOT be accepted.
• If you require a logo to be scanned, there is an additional, one-time scanning fee of $15/$30 (member/nonmember). Your logo will be stored and you can use it in all future ads at no charge.
• If you send materials overnight mail or overnight express, please specify “Waive Signature” for delivery.We cannot guarantee inclusion in the magazine if this is not done.
• Please furnish an email address to receive a proof of the ad. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and content of their ads. The Journal will not be responsible for any mistakes in ad copy that is not typed.“Flashes” or any information taken by telephone or via email will not be guaranteed for accuracy or inclusion. All advertis- ing is non-refundable.The publisher reserves the right to edit all ad copy.
Return of Ads
Your photos will be returned via Priority or First Class mail with a complimentary copy of the magazine for each ad placed. No need to provide stamps or a return mailer!
The Breeder’s Directory
The Breeder’s Directory is available to members of USASA only and costs $55 per year.Your listing will be included in The Journal and on the USASA website.To include a link to your e-mail and/or website on the USASA website the cost is an additional $5 per year. Aussie Rolodex
The Aussie Rolodex is open to all advertisers. The cost is $50/$100 (member/nonmember) per year for six insertions or $10/$20 (mem- ber/nonmember) per issue. If you update or change your Aussie Rolodex business card during your yearly term, there will be an additional $10/$20 (member/nonmember) scanning fee.
