   EYEBROW COLOURS
When choosing the shade that you want to use on a client, you have to consider how it will look compared to their hair. The rule of thumb is to choose a shade that is 1-2 shades darker than the hair if the client’s hair is lighter, and a shade lighter on clients with darker hair. No matter what, you want to make sure that the colour is not too harsh.
EYEBROW PRODUCTS
There are several different eyebrow products to choose from. For example, pomades, pencils, powders, and gels. Powders are often softer looking, whereas pomades may last longer. Eyebrow pencils (and pomades when used correctly with a fine brush) are great for precision. Use an eyebrow gel to set the brows in place.
EYEBROW TRENDS
There are always different techniques trending, and it’s important to understand what trend goes best with certain looks. For example, there are feather brows, which often go well with high fashion looks, defined brows, and more natural-looking brows (which most clients will probably want).
EYEBROW GROOMING
If you ever have to groom your client’s eyebrows, always make sure that you brush through the brow hairs first. Then, start by tweezing the underside of the brows, beginning at the brow bone. You typically want to leave the front of the brow more natural looking. Only tweeze the tail if absolutely necessary. If the brow hairs are wiry and long, brush the hairs upwards and slightly trip the tops of the eyebrows.
Always add to the top of the eyebrow instead of the bottom to avoid taking space away from the client’s eyelid/brow bone.
Apply product in light ‘feathered strokes’ to mimic real hair. This will also give the brows and eyes a more lifted look.
Extend the tail towards the temple for a lifted look.
Use a lighter shade at the front of the eyebrow (as well as a lighter hand) and a darker shade through the middle and tail of the brow for a more natural look.
BLOCKING EYEBROWS
Blocking eyebrows is a powerful technique that is most often used in Drag Makeup. It can take bushy eyebrows and hide them so that you can draw any shape of brow that you’d like.
