SMOKEY
Smokey eyeliner is one of my favourite methods. You can use either a gel or pencil to create a gorgeous blended look. The best part about this technique is that it gives definition and an intense lash line without any harsh lines. It is also a more forgiving method because you are able to blend out the product.
MASCARA & EYELASHES
EYELASH CURLER:
Eyelash curlers are used when you have straight lashes and want more of a “C” shape. Always curl your lashes before applying mascara as the mascara can get stuck to the curler and pull out lashes. If you are doing this on a client, you can ask them to curl their own eyelashes.
APPLYING MASCARA:
Always start mascara on the bottom lashes; this will prevent the lashes from smudging on your client's eyelid while you do the top. While applying, ensure to use a zig-zag motion for the most volume. Let each layer set for about 20 seconds, and then go in for a second or third coat. If you are doing this on a client, always bring mascara wands. You can purchase these on Amazon. An easy trick is to bend your mascara wand sideways while applying mascara on a client as this will help you get in closer to their eyelashes.
REMOVING MASCARA:
Mascara is often the hardest thing to remove off your client's face. Still, it is so essential to make sure you get all the makeup and residue off before you start your application or even before you go to bed. Try using an eye makeup remover or eye wipe to get rid of all the residue.
HOW TO APPLY FAKE LASHES:
1. MEASURE & TRIM YOUR EYELASHES:
Hold the false lashes up to your client's eye to see how much you need to trim away. Make sure you are trimming the same amount off each side and that you are trimming from the outside of the lashes (not from the inside).
2. Apply glue to the lash strip: You can use a Q-Tip dipped into the glue, so you get an even coat on the lashes.
3. WAIT for the glue to get tacky: One of the biggest tips for applying lashes is waiting for the glue to get sticky enough that they won't slide around. If you wait approximately 2 minutes after applying the glue, it will make your life so much easier.
4. Apply: If you are having a hard time applying, look DOWN into a mirror (when doing this on yourself). If you are applying lashes to a client, always make sure they are looking down, but never closing their eyes. Having their eyes closed can make the glue stick to the bottom lashes and glue their eye shut (we don’t want that). Start by sticking the middle of the lash to the centre of the eye, then stick either side down.
