As you age, you begin to lose moisture in your skin. The number one piece of advice I can give you for mature skin is always to add moisture. You can do this by using cream products and setting spray on the face and staying away from powders as much as possible!
BASE
Always apply something that is going to give a lot of moisture to the skin. I recommend using the Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 moisturizer all over the face.
FOUNDATION
Avoid powders at all costs, so that means putting down the powder foundations. Try using light-weight products, a tinted moisturizer, or airbrushed foundation. Using something light-weight will look better on the skin. Then, if needed, you can go in and spot conceal the problematic areas. Doing this will give you a more natural, smooth effect while providing extra coverage only where it is necessary.
CONCEALER
Use a concealer 2-3 shades lighter than the skin tone. Always use products more light-weight for mature skin. Apply a few dots under the eyes and tap into the skin with your fingers. The warmth from your fingers will melt the concealer into the under-eye area. If you are working on a client, use a beauty sponge.
BRONZER
Apply bronzer on the forehead, cheekbones, and a touch under the chin. We are not contouring, but rather warming up the face. You do not want to contour someone more mature because as we age, we tend to lose volume in the face, and we do not want the face to appear slimmer.
BLUSH
Use a cream blush, again trying to stay away from powder products, as powder products accentuate wrinkles. Apply with your fingers and work into the skin. If you don’t have a cream blush, you can even use a lipstick right on the apples of the cheeks.
