SIZING, LOCATING AND DESIGNING AN ARMENTO COLUMBARIUM
1 Determining the Size
Determine the “size” of the Columbarium with
an educated estimate based on the number of members of your church or organization. Unsure? Our experience tells us that a conservative but good starting point for the number of niches is 20-25% of eligible subscribers.
This figure should be adjusted with consideration of ...
• potential subscribers’ ages
• existing funeral arrangements
• eligibility requirements of the organization • local cremation rates
Remember, this figure is a starting point; it will most likely be refined as project planning moves forward.
2 Finding the Perfect Location
Next identify possible locations for the Columbarium. Consider often overlooked areas.
• an under-used storage room or closet can become a glorious memorial chapel
• outdoor courtyards and recesses are ideal locations to create a beautiful memorial garden featuring an Armento Columbarium
3 Then we suggest that you ...
• take a digital photo of the area(s) being considered • prepare a rough sketch with approximate
dimensions
• contact your Armento representative for assistance
Our experienced staff will utilize this information to assist you by developing design recommendations, furnishing samples and answering your questions.

Guidelines for Eligibility and Financing
It is also recommended that you ...
• define eligibility requirements for inurnment in the Columbarium • establish guidelines and procedures for its use and care
• decide on a price point necessary to reserve a niche
Eligibility
Some organizations restrict eligibility to their membership, while others have a more open policy. Whichever you choose, you should check with your organization’s administration and your local or state agencies to determine the need for possible involvement in the project.
Financing
Financing the project is an individual and unique topic for most organizations. Some choose to have the entire project funded prior to starting. Others choose to commence the project with only a portion of the financing in place.
Creating a perpetual fund
In addition to recovering the total cost of the project through niche reservations, it is suggested that a perpetual fund be established for the columbarium. That way the project becomes self-supporting and has its own resources available to cover future contingencies, should they arise.
