PASSION
or a bar when I turned 21 and all my friends were going, getting to the field first and leaving last because I needed to put in the extra work. Many of these decisions didn't even feel like sacrifices at the time, they were just the right thing to do, to align with the goals I set for myself. The athlete who is willing to sacrifice for their sport, is usually the one who possesses the passion that it takes to be great. This is what separates the haves from the have nots.
When Passion Meets Sacrifice - An Amazing Journey Awaits
I’ve always been driven to be the best athlete I could possibly be. All of my energy, effort, and sacrifices in sports were because I loved them, they rarely felt like work. Even the two-a-day practices in football. I played all sports as a kid, but I would say my PASSION for baseball came to the forefront in high school. I understood there was a possibility it could take me pretty far. High school ball, led to college ball, and summer ball in Cape Cod, from there the minor leagues and eventually my dream of playing Major League Baseball.
It’s been a wild, stressful, exciting, and unbelievable journey. After years of playing and many injuries/surgeries, not to mention the struggle of being away from my children and wife, I could slowly feel my passion for baseball start to fade. Especially the last couple of seasons, baseball wasn’t as fun as it used to be. Just because I felt my passion fading, doesn't mean I changed my habits or work ethic, in fact I had to work harder the last few years to come back from multiple surgeries.
I missed all but one month of the 2019 season because of elbow surgery, I weighed my future, and was determined to give it another shot in 2020. I was back and feeling better than ever at spring training when COVID hit. That break from the sport, gave me even more time to reflect on my passion and my future. That’s how Fully Equipped Athlete came about. My passion for playing the game may have faded, but not my love of the game. Now I’m passionate about helping other athletes on a path towards greatness, with a system I truly believe in.
